| Caption: | This is the 'baby' Zambezi some 10km or so from the river's so-called source. It's interesting to compare this to the grown-up Zambezi at the Victoria Falls (see SPIRIT OF THE LAND>Batoka Series) Zambian tourism has long claimed the far north west of Zambia as the 'source' of the Zambezi and a tourist centre was built at the alleged location of the 'source' in 2006 - so that visitors could easily access the small spring and puddle that was 'The Source' via an elaborate network of decorated wooden walkways. However, the true source of the Zambezi has been discovered to be the Sakeji River just over the border in D R Congo. |
